Does Your Life Need Major Changes

Throughout my time as a life coach, I have found that many of the small and unhealthy habits that people should break are often the most difficult to identify. To better accomplish this, I like to break it down into four categories that encompass our entire lives: body, spirituality, relationships and business.

Body and Sleep

One small negative habit that many individuals have with their body is that they don’t schedule their sleep. “Healthline sites that those who don’t get enough sleep face ailments such as decreased immune function, increase in cancer risk, cognition (thinking) issues and even weight gain.” When we schedule our sleep, we know what we have to do to prepare ahead of time before it’s lights out. Simple tricks such as cutting off screen time an hour before bedtime, drinking herbal tea or using natural sleeping supplements can aid in making adjustments to your sleeping schedule. I would advise against reading before bedtime. I say this because it is my belief that we begin to program our brains to associate reading with sleep when we begin to practice reading before bedtime.

Your Higher Power

Some individuals do not have any relationship with a higher power or they do not practice their spirituality regularly. This is something that admittedly I was guilty of. I have found that a lack of spiritual connection can impact your trust and influence your engagement throughout the day. Lacking spiritual practice such as meditation, prayer or attending church can be a sign that an individual is lacking in this area. I meditate daily and I journal my thoughts as soon as I complete my meditation. Many free guided meditation sessions are available online, through apps and even YouTube.

Relationships

When someone makes excuses that they do not have enough time to engage in activities with friends and family, this is a small sign that they lack balance in their life. It is not a matter of how much time we have, rather how we manipulate our activities throughout our day to optimize our time. Find ways to make this a priority in your day. If you need to schedule in an hour to play a game with your kids, so be it.

Business

When someone is not outgoing and energetic at their place of work, this typically expresses that they are not living in their purpose. Sounding rude on the phone or failing to make eye contact with clients shows reserve and is a prime example of how someone may lack fulfillment in their job. A healthy habit to break while at work is to keep your personal cell phone and social media outlets tucked away while on the clock. Do not surf the web unless it is for the purpose of work. Limit the amount of unnecessary activities conducted each day and create a daily to-do list to ensure productivity.

Are You Unhappy

A small sign that someone is unhappy and unhealthy would be that they are tired and sore each morning when they wake up. They make food choices simply because something tastes good and they do not view food as a valuable source of nourishment. If someone has paperwork all over their desk that is unkept, trash that is somewhere other than the trashcan and the individual complains often, they may be unhappy. When someone speaks poorly about their spouse or they show interest in another when they are already in a committed relationship, this makes it evident that someone is unhappy. If an individual does not live in their purpose each day and isn’t inspired to create and build in their business daily, they are unhappy.

Oftentimes, people have a notion created at the beginning of each day, they have too much to do. This negative platform ensures that the individual is overwhelmed from the start. A surefire way to eliminate this way of thinking is to list out each morning what the individual intends to accomplish. Once the individual focuses on achieving each action item, any extra time will be fulfilling. Scheduling sleep, exercise, spiritual practice, meetings, daily education and time with family and friends are all important and should be on everyone’s calendar.

How Happy Are You With Your Life

When we consider our body, spirituality, relationships and business, we must ask ourselves if we are truly happy. Do you feel excited and fully of energy each morning that you wake up? Are you proud to look at your naked body in the mirror each day? Do you believe in a higher power and have faith in your belief system? Are you sexually and emotionally satisfied with your spouse? Do you have a spouse at all? Do you spend enough time with your children, friends and other family members? When you go to work each day, do you feel excited to know that you are passionate about the gifts that you get to build on each day?

Create Your Own Reality

The simplest advice that I can give to everyone is to stop living in the societal norm. If you function best on 9 hours of sleep each day, make that your sleep schedule. I wake up at 3am each morning and have found that my lunch hour is somewhere around 9am-10am, not noon. Make waves and create a new reality for yourself. If you want to lose weight, set a goal to lose one pound first and increase your diet and exercise regimen until you are able to reach that goal and set a higher one. If you want to practice spirituality each day, meditate, pray or attend church as much as feels healthy for you. Make a list of the top ten things that you love to do. Does the majority of your list align with your life purpose and what you are doing for work? If not, start to make changes. Read, listen to audiobooks/podcasts and journal every thought and idea onto paper so that you can see the tangible reality of your aspirations begin.

It’s Time For Change

Understand that there is nothing wrong with you; there is nothing wrong with anyone who has a shortcoming, bad habit, or is unhappy. Those who are able to identify that they want something better for themselves are the few that break the mold and find their true purpose and happiness in life. I was never happier in my life until I found a life coach that held me accountable each day and who helped me to set and accomplish goal after goal. Looking back now, the goals that I create daily are at such a higher level than anything that I could have imagined before.
