Yes is Your New Master Key
Have you ever considered that the three-letter word ‘yes’ is like a master key to advancements and opportunities in life? People who succeed the most are the ones who say yes to every single opportunity that come their way. Most of the time, they say yes and then worry about sorting out the details later. This is not to say that I find myself to be anymore successful than you reading this. I know that I am still on my way to the top. By saying yes, I have found major changes and shifts in allowing me to keep climbing higher and higher.
Daily Opportunities to Say Yes
I managed a pediatric practice for 12 years. Some of my daily opportunities to say ‘yes’ would look something like this:
- I would receive an early morning text from an insurance affiliate asking if I would join them for lunch that day since they would be in the area
- My e-mail would show several webinars about upcoming changes and events as it pertained to my industry
- My patients would ask me if I would be interested in a service or product that they themselves provided. One of my favorites was from a woman who sold free-range chicken eggs!
- A leading insurance company or pharmaceutical representative may ask if I wanted to set or take a walk-in meeting to review some of the new ways to increase profit with our company.
- One of my employees would invite me to attend a personal event of theirs.
- The provider that I work for would drop me a magazine clipping of some extravagant recipe, indicating that I should try it (because she wanted to eat it).
- Nobody else wants to host the holiday party so I am asked to do it.
What Happens When we Start to Say Yes
These are just seven short examples of situations where I was presented with opportunities where I could either accept or decline. In short, I said yes to each of these and every other opportunity that I was presented with. In doing this, I built stronger relationships with our insurances and affiliates. The knowledge that I gained from the webinars were almost always the latest information that everyone else only just begun talking about week or months later. The patients that I showed interest in always asked for me when doing business in our office. This builds a strong relationship where they knew that they could always count on me.
Accepting meetings from insurance companies helped to build networking opportunities and easy contacts for me. When I would attend events with my staff such as weddings, I was able to demonstrate my genuine interest in them as a person. This created a higher level of respect that they showed to me. The recipes that my provider challenged me with allowed me to expand my creativity and try something new. Having the holiday party at my house was the best party that we had the entire time that I worked for the company.
Don’t Give Yourself Another Choice
When we allow ourselves no other choice but to opt-in, we omit the need to talk ourselves out of why we can’t do something. This creates a catalyst for more opportunities to come our way. It is funny how so much of my life tends to align when I am able to build on my life portfolio in this way. I build new friendships both personally and professionally. There are new stories that I can share with those that I care about.
The next time that you are given an opportunity to say yes, do it! And as you smile in the process, know that you are beautiful, you are strong, and you are a LEO Warrior.
